So i was just kinda curious since getting up to college and seeing all the long boards around but i was just curious about my setup and seeing if it fits well. My setup: Loaded Vanguard Flex 4 Gullwing Sidewinder trucks Abec 11 75a gumballs. My main questions is: 1) i weight about 135-140 (haven't weighed myself in a while) so does the flex 4 fit my weight. I personally like the feel which is ultimately the biggest factor but everyone else i see and talk to has flex 1 and 2 boards saying mine is way too flexible "it Bananas too much.." 2) The gullwings sidewinders carve REALLY well (almost to turny) would it be better to just keep the trucks relatively tight as to have a bit more control and have the board be higher of the ground? Or might it be beneficial to look into some Randall trucks which seem to be the standard and have the board sit closer to the ground? Thanks for the help everyone

a tip is dont use side winders they are very very very very very very unstable. once you hit a hill there goes the controll of terning and your life basicly . so id go with randal's . but i cant tell you what two do so its a tip . get what you want ...

Thanks for the opinion That;s kinda what i was thinking cause you are totally right that they get extremely unstable. Also why would people choose a flex 1 or 2 or something when they are just a little bigger than me? Isn't the whole idea of loaded the flexible board for carving and stuff? but their boards don't even bend at all under them. I dunno just something that i was wondering. thanks again

It's all about what feels best to you. If you're only riding on very mild hills or flats on campus then the sidewinders are good enough. I would image those would come in handy around a crowded campus to breeze in between pedestrian traffic. Af far as the flex, some people like camber and flex in their boards, others prefer them to be stiffer. W/e you like is what matters.
Where do u go to school by the way?

Ah makes sense and ya i don't do too much bombing down hills. The only thing i don't like about the sidewinders is they set in front of the board so i cant do any manuals or shov-its and it is kinda lame. But i dunno, i will figure something out. And i go to school at Fort Lewis in Durango if you know Colorado at all

Go with a reverse kingpin truck and put those sidewinders on ebay I think you will be fine with a flex 4 personally.

yea if ur sidewinders stick out too much and don't allow u to put weight on the front and back of the board for manuals than u might want to go w/ something else, i think sidewinders were made w/ relaxed cruisinig/commuting in mind, not so much tricks or speed
and no i don't know anything about Colorado, sorry! I here, it's pretty though, and cold
for a vanguard, like osdboarder said, reverse kingpin trucks work the best

Definately, your absolute best bet are reverse kingpin trucks Randal 180's, Holeys, Paris 180's, Tracker fasttracks. Personally I like the feel of the randals and the paris on vanguards. They just seem to fit the board a lot better. The paris are a little nicer though, all around better quality but they will cost more than randals.
as for flex, Loaded's flex chart is totally based on how they want the board to respond or feel to different people. It's totally suggestive and some people may go flexier, and some may go stiffer.

the side winders were made for surfing in water feeling and basically surfers stay in water and don't hit hills or manuals

dude, i say keep the sidewinders and buy paris trucks. i have sidewinders. they're great. i have randals. THEY're great. however, get acquainted with switching out your trucks for different types and places where you'll ride. if you wanna just cruise around your campus and go to classes, stick with the sidewinders bro.

I seriously agree with the eskimo about the trucks, I do prefer Paris a bit over randells but it isn't a bad idea to get different bushings. The stock bushings will work decent after being broken in an absurd amount. For the flex on your vanny, you seem like you enjoy the flex 4, personally if I was your weight I'd go with flex 3 but that is just me, if you are not bottoming out too much than good deal. Also no matter what trucks you put on the vanguard isn't really an easy board to manual although my buddy has got it down like a slide.
