i just got a new board, a bustin cigar. it is AMAZING. i love the custom graphic, the flex, everything about it. however, i'd really like to learn about making grip tape designs. can anybody point me in the right direction?

Try and get griptape from a roll that usually always works best.
Draw what you want on a small piece of paper. Then you should reverse it or "mirror it" so that you can draw it on the back of the griptape and then when applied it will show up how you had originally planned.
Position the grip where you want it on your board then rip off the backing and try to put it where you want it Press from the middle and then move your way out and try to avoid bubbles. Take a file or screwdriver and rub it on the edge of the board where the grip over laps then take your knife and cut along the line you just made. Blow dryers help the adhesive on the back stick the board better, or you can let it sit in the sun for an hour or 2
Tips of the trade. -Use the sharpest knife you can find (even if it means going to a samurai's crib and asking to borrow a couple of throwing stars) -Pin the grip tape down when drawing/cutting because it always wants to roll back up -draw in pencil first and then sharpie - and take your time
