looks like a real fun ride. so i heard that they used the dervish wood, but in the vangaurd press or something? how did it come to be an "alien"? if it isnt gripped (which it looks like it isnt), make an awesome design, then your vanguard will be super special

i read that they used flex 4 bamboo and cut it to the 42 inch size instead of the 38 inch size. so it is the size of a flex 2 but has the flex of a flex 4. that makes it extra flexy. i already have a design for the bottom. i need to make the stencil now so i can spray paint it. there will be pictures when i am done. they won't be blurry.

i have the stencil done for the most part. i'm going to add some sea spray and that will be that for the graphics. what do you think i should do for the finishing coat?

ok now it's done and i'm afraid to ride it before putting a finish on it. i don't want to have a whale with cracks all over it on my board. what should i use?

ask chris, he seems to know a lot about finishes. polyurethane may make the board stiffer, and possibly better?

i like it where it's at for the moment. i was thinking i might be able to get away with a light coat of clear spray paint. would that be blasphemy?

NO. spray paint is for, excuse the cliche, n00bs. and it flakes off, which sucks. wait to get some better advice. buy some spray on poly at least

Ah, I see James now what you are talking about. I don't know if you can mix polyeurathane with epoyx or fibreglass resin (which is probably what Loaded uses to finish their boards). You might want to ask them (i'd hate for you to wreck your new board).

just found this: www.a1designerflooring.com/Great%20Floors/concrete-floor-paint-includes.htmthey say to use urethane over epoxy. maybe try a little tiny section to see what happens. hopefully, the worst case is that the spray on urethane may just wear off or flake off... you did scuff the area you painted with some sand paper first for better paint adhesion, right? if the loaded finish is too shiny your paint may not stay on ...

oops i haven't been on in a while. i've been riding it without a finish for a while and the paint has been holding fine. if i get to putting a nicer finish on it i will sand the board with the exception of the graphic. the board it actually getting a little grubby around the middle so it might be time to sand and finish it.

Try polycrylic it dries faster than polyurethane and it doesn't change have a yellowish tint like polyurethane does or buy Krylon acrylic clear spray
I redid a vanguard and have used polycrylic and kyrlon spray and it works out great
